ingredients for paneer tikka :

  • paneer cubed - 250 grams
  • capsicums (bell peppers) - 1 cup (diced)
  • onion - 1 cup (diced)
  • hung curd (yogurt or thick curd) - 200 grams
  • roasted besan - 3 tbsp
  • ginger garlic paste - 1 tbsp
  • kashmiri red chili powder - ½ tbsp
  • turmeric powder - ½ tbsp
  • cumin seeds powder (jeera powder) - 1 tsp
  • coriander powder - 1 tsp
  • garam masala - ½ tsp
  • black pepper powder - ½ tsp
  • lemon juice - ½ tsp
  • salt - as per taste
  • sugar - ¼ tsp
  • kasoori methi (dried & crushed) - ¼ tsp
  • mustard oil - 2 tbsp
  • butter - 2 tbsp (optional)


Directions for paneer tikka :

  • chop the paneer in square shaped cubes.
  • the veggies (capsicums, onions) also should be chopped in square shapes. keep the chopped veggies and paneer aside.

directions for marinate:

  • in a large bowl, take the curd and whisk it till it becomes smooth.
  • to the bowl, also add - roasted besan, ginger garlic paste, kashmiri red chilli powder, cumin seeds powder, coriander powder, garam masala, black pepper powder, lemon juice, salt, sugar, kasoori methi, butter and mix well.
  • heat up the mustard oil until it starts smoking and then add turmeric powder. after that add to the marinate.
  • add the paneer cubes, veggies and coat the all gently in the marinate. cover bowl and let the paneer and veggies marinate for 4 hours or more in the refrigerator.

directions for paneer tikka in oven(otg):

  • skewer the veggies and paneer alternately on skewers.


  • preheat the oven(otg) at 180 degree celsius.
  • on a rack or a plate arrange the paneer skewers.
  • bake the paneer tikka for 20-25 minutes at 180 degree celsius.
  • after 10 mins remove the skewers, and turn the skewers. brush some more oil.
  • keep again in the oven(otg) and bake for a further 10-15 mins more.
  • arrange the paneer tikka on a plate. sprinkle some chaat masala on paneer tikka.
  • serve the yummy paneer tikka with mint chutney, onion rings with lemon wedges.
