(Besan ka Cheela Recipe in Hindi)

Besan Cheela/Chilla is one of the quick indian snacks Recipe. It’s quite easy to make as you just need to mix all ingredients and prepare the cheela. These Savour indian pancakes are made using gram flour, spices & herbs and veggies Or You can go ahead and skip all the veggies and prepare Plain Besan Cheela.

These Besan Cheelas are quite healthy and can also be part of Tiffin Box Snacks.  This is also known as Besan Ka Puda.

I am sure everyone will love to eat this nutritious and tasty hot served dish.






Ingredients:

  • Gram Flour (Besan) - 2 Cups
  • Onion - ¼ Cup (Finely chopped)
  • Tomato - ¼ Cup (Finely chopped)
  • Capsicum (Shimla Mirch) - ¼ Cup (Finely chopped)
  • Coriander Leaves (Dhania) - 1 Tbsp (Finely chopped)
  • Green Chilli - 1 (Finely chopped)
  • Ginger Garlic Paste - 1 Tsp
  • Carom Seeds (Ajwain) - ½ Tsp
  • Turmeric Powder (Haldi) - ½ Tsp
  • Red Chilli Powder - ¼ Tsp
  • Asafoetida ( Hing) - A Pinch
  • Water - 1-2 Cup or add as per required
  • Salt - To taste
  • Oil - As required

Directions:

  • Take a bowl and add Besan, carom seeds, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, asafoetida and mix well.
  • Add 1 cup of water and mix well. Make sure the batter is lump free.
  • Now add finely chopped onion, tomato, green chilli, ginger garlic paste, capsicum, coriander leaves and mix well.
  • If it is required then add some more water. Batter should be runny, adjust the water to get right consistency.
  • Heat 2 tsp oil in a pan/tawa. Once oil is hot then pour the batter and spread it to make round shape cheela or pancake.


  • Let the cheela gets cook on one side or till gets golden brown then drizzle some oil on top and then flip it using spatula.
  • Cook for another 2-3 minutes on medium flame or  till gets golden brown.
  • Once both side are cooked properly, remove it to plate.
  • Now Hot, Crispy, Masala Vegetable Besan Cheela is ready to Serve.
  • Serve this Besan Cheela with Coriander Chutney, Sweet Tamarind Chutney or Tomato Ketchup.
