As the name suggests, rava balls recipe are flavorsome ball-shaped dumplings made up of semolina or rava (sooji). These balls are steamed to cook and then tempered to add more flavors therein. Semolina balls have the flavors of rai, coriander leaves, ginger, green chili, etc. Sooji ball is a healthy snack as it is cooked by steaming and very little oil is used.
Easy to make this mouth-watering treat, steamed sooji balls are sure to be loved by young and old. These soft and spongy soji balls and the flavor of Indian spices make it a perfect breakfast choice for food lovers. This is the best and easy snack which is made from suji.

Ingredients for Rava Balls Recipe
- Sooji (Semolina/Rava) - 1cup
- Rai - ½ tsp
- Asafoetida (hing) - ¼ Tsp
- Green Chilli - 2 (Finely Chopped)
- Ginger - ½ tsp grated
- Water - 2 ½ Cup
- Black Pepper - ½ tsp
- Red Chilli Powder - ¼ tsp
- Salt - As per your taste
- Oil - 2 tbsp

- Sooji (Semolina/Rava) - 1cup
- Rai - ½ tsp
- Asafoetida (hing) - ¼ Tsp
- Green Chilli - 2 (Finely Chopped)
- Ginger - ½ tsp grated
- Water - 2 ½ Cup
- Black Pepper - ½ tsp
- Red Chilli Powder - ¼ tsp
- Salt - As per your taste
- Oil - 2 tbsp
- Dry Roast the sooji for about 5 minutes on low flame and keep aside.
- To make rava balls, heat the oil in a Kadai. When oil is hot, add mustard seeds into it. let them splutter.
- Now add ginger, chopped green chili and saute them for another minute.
- Pour water into the Kadai, add salt and get the water to a rapid boil.
- keep the gas flame on low when you start adding roasted Rava slowly, stirring continuously.
- Mix continuously with the help of a spatula till the sooji (semolina/ rava) absorbs all water. This process helps to prevent any lumps formation.
- Cover the Kadai with a lid and cook for 2 minutes on low flame or until the rava turns soft and fluffy.
- Switch off the gas.
- Transfer the cooked sooji to a large plate and allow it to cool slightly.
- After that knead the sooji into a dough without adding any extra water.
- Now boil the water in a steamer.
- Grease your hands with some oil.
- Take the suji mixture in your hands and prepare small ball-sized balls. Make sure there are no cracks in the balls.
- Place the suji balls in a steamer and make sure to grease the base to prevent them from sticking.
- Now steam the balls in a steamer for around 8 to 10 minutes or until the balls are cooked well.
- Once done, transfer the steamed suji balls onto the plate. Let it cool for 30 minutes.
- Heat the oil in a Kadai. When oil is hot, add mustard seeds and Asafoetida (hing) into it. let them splutter.
- Now add red chili powder, black pepper powder and mix well.
- Also, add sooji balls or rava balls to it and mix them properly.
- Cook these rava balls on low flame for 2-3 minutes. keep stirring in between. switch off the gas.
- Finely enjoy yummy Semolina Balls / Suji balls with your favorite Chutney.
