perfect fluffy rice recipe | perfect steamed rice recipe | healthy way to cook plain rice on gas stove



perfect fluffy rice recipe or perfect steamed rice recipe or healthy way to cook plain rice on gas stove with step by step process - steamed rice can be considered a staple food in india and it is cooked almost every day in indian households. it may be used as the base for a variety of pulaos and biryanis. it can be served plain with dal, subzi and curds.



ingredients for perfect steamed rice :

  • long grained rice (basmati) - 2 cups
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • oil - 2 tsp
  • water - 8-9 cups


directions for perfect steamed rice :

  • rinse the rice under running water, rubbing the grains together between the palms of your hands, continue this rinsing until the water runs fairly clear.
  • soaked the rice for 30 minutes and drain.
  • boil water in a deep pan.
  • after the water comes to a boil then add the soaked and drained rice.
  • now add salt, oil and mix well.

  • cook on a medium flame for 8 to 10 minutes or till the rice is 90% cooked.
